Liane Martinez was a Full Merit Scholarship Recipient at Florida International University, where she received her Juris Doctor, cum laude. Ms. Martinez excelled academically, earning 5 Dean’s List awards and the CALI Book Award in her Legal Writing III class. During her time at FIU Law, Ms. Martinez spent a summer clerking for the Honorable Lisette M. Reid, a Federal Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ms. Martinez also worked for FIU Law Practice, which provided family law services to low- and moderate-income families who did not qualify for free legal services. Additionally, Ms. Martinez was a research assistant to two professors.

Aside from her work experience, Ms. Martinez was heavily involved in extracurricular activities. Ms. Martinez was a member of FIU Law Review and the FIU Law Moot Court team. Ms. Martinez served as the President of FIU Law’s Negotiation and Mediation Team, where she won the Outstanding Negotiation Skills Award. Ms. Martinez was the Co-Champion of the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition in November 2019, the theme being family law. She also led her team to 2nd place at the ABA National Mediation Competition in April 2021. Ms. Martinez won the Pro Bono Service Award for completing over 120 hours of pro bono legal work in May 2021.

Prior to law school, Ms. Martinez received her B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Florida. During her time at the University of Florida, Ms. Martinez served as the Philanthropy Chair for the Pre-Legal Honor Society.

Ms. Martinez is admitted to the Florida Bar and fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
